May Flowers

April showers bring May flowers! The age old adage was inspiration for our post today and with the month of May arriving tomorrow, we couldn't think of a better time to highlight some great spring floral pieces that we've spotted online. The above blazer is from the spring/summer 2010 collection of French based line Thomsen. Please check their website out, the collection is beautiful. Take a peak at our other finds below. It takes some confidence to pull off these prints, but real men wear flowers.

Gant Rugger opens on Bleecker

Gant has just opened the first retail location for their Rugger brand. The new store situated at 353 Bleecker St features the line, which is inspired by Gant's archives, beautifully displayed in an environment equally touched by Gant's legacy. The clothing and decor marry perfectly. We can't wait to check it out. Style.com brings us a sneak peak inside the store with the pictures above and article here.

Patch It Up!

There's something really smart and charming about great patchwork. Patchwork gives off a cool anti conformist vibe, and the care and attention involved in having the patches come together harmoniously is a skill we definitely appreciate. The shirt above is from Junya Watanabe and is available at Tres Bien Shop. Please check out a few of our other spring patchwork picks below.

Flash Us

We are completely crazy over all the video usage some of our bookmarked bloggers and web-stores have been up to recently. The above images come from an amazing men's editorial from The Contributing Editor titled "Futur3 P3rf3ct". Fashion blogger Garance Dore is also on the video bandwagon. She creates the most charming short snippets that capture the buzz and magic at some of the most noteworthy fashion shows. UK retailer Asos uses a 15 second video feature that allows you to see a model strut the catwalk wearing the item you've selected. Patrik Ervell and Rachel Comey's recently launched e-commerce sites also feature clever flash video to enhance their product's appeal. Keep flashing us we love it.

Go Varsity

At workroom, we’re definitely not prime examples of athletic prowess, but we like to think that we're fit. It’s true we weren’t the captains of our high school football teams or track stars, however this spring we feel like adding some of that jock sensibility to our wardrobes. The above picture comes from Blackbird featuring the new Gant Rugger baseball jacket. It’s pretty freaking awesome, and we love the retro vibe Blackbird brought with the styling. Below are some of our other picks to help us go varsity this spring.

Fair Play

We definitely wish we were in New York this weekend to check out the Hester Street Fair. This LES flea market/street fair, created by Suchin Pak, her brother Suyhun, Ron Castellano, and Adam Zeller will debut this weekend April 24th & 25th, and continue every subsequent weekend from April-December. The fair will feature a carefully curated selection of vendors who specialize in vintage finds, cool crafts and what sounds like some seriously amazing food. We can't think of a better way to enrich community spirit than through shopping and food! Gargyle and Opening Ceremony, two of our fave shops are also joining in the Hester Street Fair fun! You can check out the scoop from them here and here. Please head on over there if you're in New York so we can live through you vicariously.

Fer Folk's Sake

There's been quite a buzz around Folk recently. They have a newly opened store in Shoreditch, and their amazing s/s 2010 collection is hitting stores. The London based label, primarily known for their noteworthy knitwear and shirting, has grown to boast an expansive men's and women's footwear collection, a full menswear collection, and the praise of country and city folk everywhere. This season they have come out with some of our fave knits, belts, shoes, and shirting; not to mention the outerwear that everyone is talking about. Pictured above is their navy overcoat available at End Clothing

Socks Appeal

The Sartorialist recently featured the image above, with the title "On the street...The Focus on Shoes & Socks, Tokyo". We love a good sock and it seems that the trend of ankle baring inseams in menswear has led to a new found attention to sock choice. Socks are now becoming a visible accessory that can enhance and add visual interest to an outfit. We couldn't be more on board. There's nothing worse than a seemingly perfectly dressed man, only to catch a peek at his gnarly white hanes socks. Thanks to brands like Happy Socks and Ayame there are fun affordable ways to add some sock appeal to your wardrobe. It's all in the details fellas.

Lady Grey Schools Us

Promising accessories line Lady Grey is quickly gaining a large cult following. Designers Jill Martinelli and Sabine Le Guyader have already received a plethora of press and accolades for their most recent collection, Sacred Geometry, which echos recurring natural forms that are both "geographical and celestial". Using materials such as quartz crystals, silver, bronze, geodes, and pyrite, Lady Grey creates unique sophisticated pieces with organic edginess. We aren't math whizzes, that's for sure, but we probably would have paid more attention in geometry class had a proof ended in an bad-ass pyrite bangle. Thanks for the schoolin' Lady Grey.

Timo Time

Alan Eckstein and Timo Weiland are the design duo behind the buzzworthy emerging line which carries Timo's namesake. Timo Weiland has quickly developed from an accessories line into a full blown men's and women's collection. It's great to see pieces from their, extremely well received, Spring 2010 collection arriving in two of our bookmarked online shopping spots; Forward and I Don't Like Mondays. Clearly these boys know what they are doing, and we're excited to see what they come up with next.
PS. If you have a second, we strongly encourage you to check out the Timo Weiland website. It's something to behold.

Paper, Plastic or... Bedouin?

The Style Salvage
is a great source for exciting men’s fashion happenings across the pond. Recently they did a post profiling a newly launched, high quality, made in England bag line, named Bedouin. We’re so happy this brand is gaining press and momentum, because we pretty crazy about it. The manbag has gotten quite a lot of flack in recent years, but Bedouin is sure to rise above the criticism. Simply, they are beautiful, well crafted, and come with a lifetime guarantee. Definitely a bag we’re man enough to covet. See the Style Salvage’s full post here.

Saddle Up

Saddle shoes are a footwear classic. Like apple pie and baseball, it's simply Un-American to dislike them. They're popping up all over the place this spring in brights, as illustrated above with a pair from Present by Rupert Sanderson, and traditional neutrals as pictured below. Saddle Up!

Rachel Comey Launches Mens Site

The Moment, as part of their regular "Insider" series had a great interview today with designer Rachel Comey. We were happy to learn that she recently launched an e-commerce site for her highly sought after men's shoe collection. Now men living in Rachel Comey-less areas will have the option to buy from the collection online. We love the little videos of each shoe style! Check out the full interview here.

Countdown to Coachella

As Coachella approaches one question starts to get us a little excited. You might think it's, "Who are you most looking forward to hearing?" and you wouldn't be totally wrong. We are definitely excited about the music. But what we really love is Coachella fashion. So, What the heck are you wearing!? We picked a few items from some of our fave online shops and it's time to spend some of our hard earned cash on our ideal Coachella outfit. This one is for the boys, but we think it could work on some of our lady friends too.
